Ms. Toni Fajemisin - Kindergarten
Ms. Fajemisin has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art from the University of Maryland College Park and a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of District of Columbia. Ms. Fajemisin's first job working with children was with the Museum of African Art. Later, she worked at a Boys Club teaching art to boys age six years to eighteen years old. But the bug for teaching in early childhood education didn't bite until she started working at her neighborhood church as an aide reading, telling stories and conducting art classes. She loves discussing the Bible stories and exploring social studies lessons, and watching and hearing children explore, apply and recite what they have learned. Ms. Fajemisin has been employed in the capacity as a lead teacher, program coordinator and director in early childhood centers and loves working in faith based environments the best! Her hobbies include reading, visiting bookstores and watching foreign movies.  Her favorite Bible verse is Phillipians 4:6 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God."

Dr. Tracey Holoman – Lead Teacher and Director of Curriculum (4th-6th Grade)
Dr. Tracey Holoman has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry from Norfolk State University, and a Bachelor of Science, a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from University of Maryland.  She has also continued her pursuit of elementary education coursework at the University of Phoenix.  Dr. Holoman enjoys reading, learning as much as possible, and researching, in addition to spending time with her family.  She has been teaching for many years in many different capacities:  Professor of Chemical Engineering at University of Maryland, Teacher Training Institute, tutoring, Bible Institute and Children’s Church at Mount Jezreel Baptist Church, just to name a few.  Dr. Holoman has served as Head Teacher and been teaching students from preschool-6th grade at MJCS for the past 7 years. Dr. Holoman's favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."

Ms. Nayda Depaz​ - Spanish Teacher

Ms. Nayda Depaz has been at the Mt. Jezreel Christian School as a Spanish teacher for one year.

Her experience as a teacher allows her to recognize that every day is different and it is necessary to observe the behaviors and styles of children to understand how to better teach and connect with them.

Ms. Depaz chose this profession because she believes that everyone has talent, and in that ability, there is a passion to serve others. 

The highlights of her teaching are enthusiasm, cheerfulness and guiding the children.  She is blessed to be in the presence of the children and encourage them to find their passion and reach their potential.

​Her favorite scripture is John 14:6, “Jesus answered, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."  She believes that everyone wants to be on the right path but will not know the right way until they find Jesus - as He is the one who guides us along the right way.

Ms. Chelva Jalloh​ - Pre-School Teacher

Ms. Chelva Jalloh has been working at MJCS for approximately 2 months as a pre-school teacher. 

Ms. Jalloh has worked as a former pre-school teacher, an assistant director of child development centers, a school counselor, a school counseling internship supervisor, and a principal’s intern. 

The highlight of her teaching experience is in teaching information and encouraging children to have a positive outlook.

​Ms. Jalloh’s favorite scripture is Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (beginning to end), “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…”  She likes this scripture because it discusses the high points and low points in life and it gives her encouragement to accept the many seasons of life.

Ms. Ruby Brown​ - Chef

Ms. Ruby Brown has been a member of Mt. Jezreel Baptist Church since 2009 and assisting in serving the Christian School in the Culinary Arts Ministry since 2012.

Ms. Brown believes the Lord led her to the MJCS because of her love for children.  She is a mother, a grandmother, an aunt and a great aunt.  If there is a need to help in anyway, then she is available for service. 

Ms. Brown serves in the Usher Ministry, Missions Ministry, and Church School.

The greatest benefit to Sis. Ruby is seeing how the kids are blessed by her service.​

Ms. Brown’s favorite scripture is Psalm 23.  Her mother made all her children recite and memorize Psalm 23 just about every night before bedtime.  For her that scripture passage is the truth and the light of the world.

Ms. Cheryl Rious - Music

Ms. Rious has taught at the Mt. Jezreel Christian School for four years as a music teacher.

As an educator, she has served as general/choral music teacher for the Loudoun County Public School system in Leesburg, Virginia, and 37 years as general/choral music teach in the Montgomery County Public School system in Rockville, Maryland until her retirement in 2013.  Throughout her career she has taught Pre-K, Head start, and Kindergarten through grade 8.

Ms. Rious chose the profession as a music educator because of her love for music - singing, and playing the piano.  She was encouraged and greatly influenced by her church choir director/music teacher and by the support of her mother.

The high point of her career was when she was invited to bring her 4th/5th grade chorus to perform at the retirement celebration for the Superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools, Dr. Paul Vance.

​Ms. Rious’ favorite scripture is Philippian’s 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.”  She loves this scripture because it assures her that nothing is impossible with Christ.

Ms. Bryanna Marbury​ - Teacher's Aide

Ms. Bryanna Marbury has served as a Teacher’s Aide at the Mt. Jezreel Christian School for 4 years.

Her overall experience as an educator is with children as young as 1 years old up to children in the 5th grade.  Her experience includes the Montgomery County Church of Christ and Camp Hope for Kids.

Ms. Marbury chose this profession because she enjoys working with children and saw the MJCS as a good opportunity to pursue a career she enjoyed.

Her number one highlight in teaching is seeing the children make connections so that they learn and grow.

​​​Her favorite scripture is Psalms 131 as it reminds her to be calm before the Lord.

Ms. Taryn Vail - 1st -3rd grade
Ms. Vail obtained her degree in Elementary Education from Morgan State University.  She likes working with numbers so, in school, her favorite subject was math.  When she was young she wanted to be a teacher so she could write on the chalkboard! As she got older she enjoyed watching children learn new things and wanted to be a part of that and have an impact on their lives.  She has taught for 15 years in daycare, public school and tutoring. She loves incorporating real life events in her teaching for the children to get a more thorough understanding.  Ms. Vail’s hobbies are bowling, taking weekend adventures with her 5 and 13 year old daughters and painting their nails.  her favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 54:17 "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn.  This is the heritage of the LORD, and their righteousness is from Me." This reminds her that no matter what is thrown her way it will never win over her.

Ms. Eileen Brooks​ - Teacher's Aide

Ms. Eileen Brooks has been working at the Mt. Jezreel Christian School as a Teacher’s Aid since December 2012. 

A service which began as a favor for a friend has become a rewarding and enlightening experience which she considers as a gift from God as she as always desired to be a teacher.  The number one highlight of working with the children is seeing the children’s eagerness to learn.

Although rewarding, Sis. Brooks recognizes that there are challenges in working with children which arise from varying behavioral issues that the children may encounter.  One thought that Sis. Brooks shares with new and existing teachers is that one must have patience and love for the children.  She encourages educators to seek God for guidance and be ready and willing to handle all challenges with the wisdom of God.

Ms. Brooks is looked at as “grandma” to the children and she loves it.  She realizes that the children need more than just a teacher, they need a smile, a hug, and love - which she freely gives.

Mrs. Menia Pearson - Administrator

Mrs. Pearson attended the University of the District of Columbia where she majored in Business Administration.  She has been employed with Mt. Jezreel Christian School since it opened it's doors in September 2005.  She has  served  in many capacities at the school which includes she teaching Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten during the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 school years.  Mrs. Pearson has completed the Childcare Development Certification which is recognized by the Council for Professional Recognition and continues education coursework with the Association for Christian Schools International.  She is currently serving as the Administrator of the school in addition to serving as the Vice Chairman on the Mount Jezreel Christian School Board.  She loves seeing children learn to read because it opens up a new world for them! Mrs. Pearson enjoys singing, reading, watching movies and spending time with her son and husband of 28 years.  Her favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct your paths."


Mrs. Vanessa Hymes - Pre-Kindergarten
Mrs. Vanessa Hymes went to St. Louis University where her major was math and computer science.  Mrs. Hymes was inspired to become a teacher because she loves to see young children learn new and exciting things.  She has tutored students in math, her favorite subject, for over 4 years.  Mrs. Hymes’ hobbies include swimming, jogging and spending time with her husband of 18 years.  Mrs.  Hymes has been teaching at MJCS for 1 year and her favorite activity with the kids is number Bingo! She finds her strength and wisdom from her favorite verse Phillipians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
